Brig. Gen. Eng. BESIGYE BEKUNDA CYRUS is a registered Civil engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Master of Science in Engineering from Makerere University. He also has attended Grade II and Grade III Military courses.

He is a registered engineer with ERB and a Corporate Member of UIPE.

Brig. Gen. Eng. Besigye has risen through the ranks in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces since 1985. He was first appointed as a Civil Engineer in 1986, then Division 01 Engineer 1988, Ag. General Manager Luwero 1993, Maintenance Engineer in Directorate of Construction 1994, Deputy Director of Construction 2000, Ag. Director Directorate of Construction 2006, D/COMD-1 Engineers Brigade 2008 and is currently the Commander for the UPDF Engineers Brigade since July 2019 to date.
